Kuldeep is an Engineer with an entrepreneurial mindset,  pursuing a bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science at Habib University with a full scholarship. During his undergrad, he had multiple opportunities to attend fully funded programs abroad such as the Summer Program on Social Entrepreneurship at the National University of Singapore in 2018 and the Semester Exchange program at Florida State University (FSU) in 2019. For his final year project, he developed an affordable Artificial Intelligence-based remote monitoring device that employs various signal processing and deep learning techniques to predict the possibility of pregnancy-related complications such as Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) enabling the doctors to make personalized plans to prevent such complications. Moreover, he is also passionate about self-driving cars and has worked on motion planning of an autonomous vehicle using deep learning on a CARLA simulator for his computer vision course.

Currently, Kuldeep is a research intern at Empathic Computing Lab, University of Auckland, and working on “Recognizing emotions in spontaneous conversational videos” in collaboration with Nastaran Saffaryazdi, Ph.D. candidate at the University of Auckland. His work is responsible for video annotation and testing state-of-the-art models to recognize emotions.  

His research interests include Autonomous Vehicles (AV), Deep Learning, and Computer Vision.
