Sophia Batchelor

Virtual Intern
Sophia is a PhD student at the University of Leeds in the UK studying visuomotor skill acquisition in Virtual Reality and is a recipient of the Open Life Science Fellowship in 2021, and the Software Sustainability Institute Fellowship in 2022 for her research in the field of computational neuroscience and virtual reality. She holds a dual degree from the University of California Berkeley in Psychology, and Interdisciplinary Studies in Computer Science, Neuroscience, and Ethics and focuses her research on understanding the neuroscience principles of interaction while building tools that support reproducibility for neuroscience and virtual reality research.

As a neuroscientist, she has worked for various Brain-Computer Interface start-ups to develop neural signal processing pipelines that allow our neural activity to interface and control real and virtual objects. She hopes to better understand how humans interact with the world in order to build better virtual spaces that may be enjoyed by all.
