Erika is an Austrian Fulbright Master’s student at the Entertainment Arts and Engineering (EAE) Program of the University of Utah and gained valuable experiences as a Research Assistant at the GApp Lab. The GApp Lab is a collaboration between the Center for Medical Innovation and the EAE program forging an interdisciplinary set of skills and enhancing the collaborative development process of innovative and resonant serious games and applications for medical, therapeutic, and educational purposes. Serious games are specifically geared to have a meaningful impact on social goals by applying entertainment principles to the creation of engaging and motivational learning experiences for users. She is interested in weaving gameplay concepts with integrative research on user experience and practical exploration of emerging technologies such as Mixed Reality to influence the design of more immersive player experiences and promote health and wellbeing across the lifespan.
